Method Man, Ghostface, & Raekwon Release ‘Wu-Massacre’

Released March 30th on Def Jam, ‘Wu-Massacre’ was produced by some of the biggest names in hip hop including RZA, Allah Mathematics, and Scion’s own Ty Fyffe.   Ty’s track “Smooth Sailing” features a verse by longtime Wu collaborator Street Life and includes Solomon Childs on the chorus. The album debuted at #12 on the Billboard 200 and #2 on the Billboard Rap Albums chart.

Heather Trussell Promoted to V.P. of Licensing

After 9 years of dedicated service, Heather Trussell has been promoted from Licensing Manager to Vice President of Licensing.  The announcement was included in the Executive Turntable section of this week’s issue of Billboard- check it out here:  Billboard March 23, 2010. Heather holds a B.S. in Marketing from Northern Arizona University and a M.A. in Music Business from New York University.

Scion to Release ‘Friday Night Lights Vol. 2’ (Original Television Soundtrack)

Scion is proud to partner with NBC and Milwaukee based Arrival Records for its first official release, “Friday Night Lights Vol. 2” (Original Television Soundtrack).  Out on May 18th, the soundtrack includes songs by White Rabbits, Band of Skulls, Heartless Bastards, Jakob Dylan, The Avett Brothers, Sufjan Stevens, Fink and more!

“Working on this show is a music supervisor’s dream,” says Liza Richardson, music supervisor for ‘Friday Night Lights.’  “We use emotional indie rock, hard rock for football action, hip hop, classic rock and prayer-like twang.  On this comp we’ve focused on a handful of the more emotional selections to give the soundtrack more cohesiveness if not an exact reflection of the diversity of music.”

Alkaline Trio Releases 7th Studio Album “This Addiction”

Released on their newly-formed record label ‘Heart & Skull’ (a joint venture with Epitaph Records), “This Addiction” sounds more like Alkaline circa 1998 than 2008.  When asked about going back to the bands punk roots, front man Matt Skiba explains: “Another thing that makes [“This Addiction”] resemble our earlier records, especially our first record, is that it’s really personal. Everything on the record is stuff that definitely hits close to home for us and we tried to communicate that in the songs.”

AMP takes on Jason Schwartzman’s Beaucoup Bucks catalog

AMP is now the exclusive publishing administrator for Jason Schwartzman and his publishing companies Beaucoup Bucks and Oconut Cords.  Effective January 1st, AMP will control the hit songs “California,” “Do the Panic,” as well as other titles co-written by Jason back when he was performing with alt-rock band Phantom Planet.
