Jason Schwartzman
Jason Schwartzman

Many people recognize Jason Schwartzman from his role as 'Max Fischer,' the precocious 15 year-old from Wes Anderson's film "Rushmore," or as 'Jonathon Ames,' the bungling detective from HBO's comedy series "Bored to Death." Most would be surprised to learn that in addition to being a skillful actor, Jason is also an incredibly talented songwriter and musician.

Schwartzman's first success in the music industry came as drummer and songwriter for the alternative rock band 'Phantom Planet.' There, he and singer Alex Greenwald penned the hit "California," which subsequently went on to become the theme song for the popular Fox television show “The O.C.”.

Jason Schwartzman

After leaving ‘Phantom Planet' to pursue his acting career, Schwartzman kept on writing catchy alternative rock songs via his solo project 'Coconut Records.' The debut album "Nighttiming" was released on Schwartzman's Young Baby Records in 2007 and had musical contributions by members of Incubus, as well as appearances by actresses Zooey Deschanel and Kirsten Dunst. Coconut Records' sophomore release "Davy" includes "I am Young" and "Wires," two songs that were featured in the 'Funny People' Original Soundtrack. Affiliated Music Publishing is proud to represent Jason's entire catalog of songs.
